Happy to share my latest painting Takeover which features an alligator, one of Louisiana’s most popular animals and considered one of the most dangerous. The alligator’s teeth, replaced with human hands, reference the real danger, greed. With human-driven mass extinction underway, natural habitats such as wetlands are at risk, while hands reach out for more. Revealing my latest painting Omen. The sketch for this started in 2017 and I opted to do an entirely different painting. I revisited it and made a few changes. Fun fact: polar bears can’t climb trees. They lost that trait since they evolved in the Arctic where there are no trees. Sneak preview of a sketch for an upcoming painting. This piece features tarsiers which are small primates found in Southeast Asia. I did something a little different with this piece and opted to use plants that are not normally found together, just intuitively going on what I felt the piece needed regarding color and texture. This is a cropped view- the total size is 6″ wide by 8″ high.

Excited to share my newly finished painting Tendril. This piece features an orchid mantis, something I’ve been wanting to paint for awhile. Inside out is in reference to our love of nature mimicked through consumer goods which, once they are old or we tire of them, are tossed out into the very thing we love: nature. Sharing my latest finished painting Fragile. It should be noted that artistic liberties were taken with this piece as (aside from the obvious abdomen) this spider doesn’t actually exist. I came up with her after looking at several references. The decorative porcelain abdomen serves to highlight the beauty and fragility of these small creatures which have an important role in our ecosystem.
