Happy to share my latest painting Takeover which features an alligator, one of Louisiana’s most popular animals and considered one of the most dangerous. The alligator’s teeth, replaced with human hands, reference the real danger, greed. With human-driven mass extinction underway, natural habitats such as wetlands are at risk, while hands reach out for more. Revealing my latest painting Omen. The sketch for this started in 2017 and I opted to do an entirely different painting. I revisited it and made a few changes. Fun fact: polar bears can’t climb trees. They lost that trait since they evolved in the Arctic where there are no trees. In the UK, there are only 3 known black barn owls, all of which live in sanctuaries. Sneak preview of a sketch for an upcoming painting. This piece features tarsiers which are small primates found in Southeast Asia. I did something a little different with this piece and opted to use plants that are not normally found together, just intuitively going on what I felt the piece needed regarding color and texture. This is a cropped view- the total size is 6″ wide by 8″ high.
