I recently came across this study from my New Realm series. This is the only available drawing from the series as it was done as I was working out my approach to the larger painting Was It a Dream?, but with the lace work as seen in other paintings throughout the series. This study is pencil on cold-pressed watercolor paper, 9” wide by 9” high (5″ x 5″ image size).
My painting Transcendental has found a new home. This piece was created as part of Modern Eden Gallery’s Familiar: The Spirit Animal in Contemporary Art exhibition. This piece utilized “butterfly eyes” as several other paintings and has a nearly monochromatic theme. It is an acrylic on canvas, 6″ wide by 6″ high. You can view the painting online here: https://amyguidry.com/transcendental.html .
New year, new painting. Though technically I finished this painting shortly beforehand. This piece was done with a friend in mind that loves wolves and rescues insects, too, and is now in her collection. The title is Interdepend and it is an acrylic on canvas, 4″ wide by 4″ high. This piece has sold, but you can find more paintings and prints available through my website: https://amyguidry.com/gallery.html.
Today is the beginning of Modern Eden Gallery’s Flashback Sale, which has officially started as of now! My painting Transcendental is now available for 25% off, originally 500, now 375. Transcendental was created for “Familiar: The Spirit Animal in Contemporary Art” and is one of my “butterfly eyes” paintings in which the butterflies are a symbol of life. Both butterflies and life are beautiful, fragile, and ephemeral. This piece is an acrylic on canvas, 6″ wide by 6″ high.
A few photos of my current painting in progress. Focusing on the rainforest for this one, specifically the Amazon and its flora and fauna. Also wanted to work on a larger piece, so this one is 20″ wide by 20″ high. It’s heavily detailed courtesy of all the leaves and tree branches. Not to mention full of white-faced capuchin monkeys! The sketch on paper maps everything out before I transferred it to canvas. The painting itself is an acrylic on canvas. I’m still working on the rainforest background at the moment, and the blue morpho butterflies. Butterflies may be small, but they are hugely symbolic in my work.
