A couple of photos of my latest painting in progress.  This will be part of my In Our Veins series.  The first rough layer of paint has been added, and I’m currently working on building the layers of color and detail to the ocean water.  It is an acrylic on canvas, 10″ wide by 20″ high.  More details soon!

I am currently working on some new small paintings, one of which is this 4″ by 4,” acrylic on canvas.  This is the initial rough layer of paint with some detail added to the ocean and sky.  The finished painting will be posted here soon.  In the meantime, check out the rest of the series here.

In Progress

I have a few photos of my current painting in progress.  With the size and background on this, it is one of my more involved pieces.  As with all of my paintings, I start off with a basic sketch onto the canvas.

Then I add a rough first layer of paint just to work everything in and then add numerous subsequent layers, building color and value as I go.

The fine detail work is the final step.

Interconnected

I’ve just finished my latest painting in the “In Our Veins” series! The title is “Interconnected” and is an acrylic on canvas, 6″ x 6.” Yet again, I took some photos along the way as I was working. I must admit they are not the best quality photos, though, since I didn’t mess with the settings on the camera and some are blurry, most are crooked. Yikes. And to think I had to take a photography course back in college… just goes to show if you don’t use it, you lose it. Which is why for the final photo, I rely on a professional. Anyway, this blind old bat much prefers working a few inches away from a canvas with a teeny tiny paintbrush. For a closeup view of the final painting, you can view it here: http://www.amyguidry.com/interconnected.html.
