Just finished this small painting from my In Our Veins series. Cohaereo, which is Latin for connected, is an acrylic on canvas, 4″ by 4.” The rabbit wears a collar of roses atop an exposed heart. The heart on the outside of the body serves as a reminder of our shared biology with all of life. The butterflies are a metaphor for life in that both are beautiful, fragile, and ephemeral. You can view the painting online here: https://amyguidry.com/Cohaereo.html.
Working on a few paintings at the moment- this small painting is currently in progress. I’ll be revealing the finished piece in my upcoming newsletter next week. (Sign up here for the first look at the finished painting.) This tiny bunny wears a collar of roses atop a giant heart. The butterflies represent life- both are beautiful, fragile, and ephemeral. It is an acrylic on canvas, 4″ wide by 4″ high.
I’ve just added a new painting to my In Our Veins series. The title is Adpectus, which is Latin for vision, and it is an acrylic on canvas, 4″ wide by 4″ high. This piece continues with the theme of organs on the outside of the body as a reminder of our shared biology. It was featured in my April newsletter that went out yesterday, so it is already on its way to its new home in Israel. View the painting online here: https://amyguidry.com/adspectus.html.
On another note, there is a current special offer on Life Force. This piece is originally $200 and is now $150. It is an acrylic on canvas, 6″ wide by 4″ high. This offer expires May 14, 2017 (Mother’s Day). View the painting online here: https://amyguidry.com/life-force.html and mention this offer.
I’m happy to say that I’ve just finished Indispensable (the large painting of the horse). This piece has been in the works for a few months, granted I had a couple of projects pop up as I was invited to do them, but this is one of my larger paintings. It is an acrylic on canvas, 20″ wide by 10″ high. Indispensable connects a mountain landscape with a horse, representing the connection of all life while keeping with a recent theme exploring the question of anonymity versus connection. View it online here: https://amyguidry.com/indispensable.html.
I also finished a couple of small paintings I’d been wanting to do. Cor and Corporis (Latin for heart and body, respectively) are acrylic on canvas, 4″ x 4.” Both feature rabbits and are complimentary paintings that work as a pair or as individual pieces, both using ribbon to connect to either the ribcage or the heart. Seeing these organs and bones serves as a reminder of the biological similarities of all sentient beings. View them online here: https://amyguidry.com/corporis.html and here: https://amyguidry.com/cor.html.
I’ve added two new paintings to my In Our Veins series. Coalesce is an acrylic on canvas, 6″ wide by 4″ high. Spirit is also an acrylic on canvas, 4″ wide by 6″ high. Both paintings can be viewed online here: http://amyguidry.com/coalesce.html and here: http://amyguidry.com/spirit.html.
I’ve just added two new paintings to the In Our Veins series, both of which quickly sold after being featured. Kin is an acrylic on canvas, 4″ x 4″ and Absent is also an acrylic on canvas, 6″ wide by 4″ high. Both were highlighted in my latest newsletter, which features my latest work and gives subscribers the first peek, in addition to listings of current and upcoming shows, and other news. My painting Unity has recently found a new home. Unity is one of my latest paintings from the In Our Veins series and is an acrylic on canvas, 4’w x 6″h. This piece is representative of the connection between us all- humans and other animals, as well as the Earth itself. View a larger image of Unity here www.amyguidry.com/unity.html as well as other paintings in the series.
I have finally finished the painting that I mentioned last week. I’m excited to reveal my latest work in the In Our Veins series titled The Sum of Its Parts. It is 11″ wide by 14″ high and an acrylic on canvas. I think I set a record for going through the most paintbrushes in one painting. I took artistic liberties with the size and placement of the stag’s heart to emphasize its significance and to center it up with the animals falling out. Without being too graphic, I wanted to illustrate when one species dies, many other species are affected. Each animal serves a role in the life cycle, together forming the delicate balance of nature. The trees not only close in the composition, but connect with the animals via the roots seen at the bottom and illustrate the role of plant life and the Earth. The butterflies, which are often seen throughout this series, serve as metaphors for life and beautiful little reminders of our short existence in the scheme of things. A larger view of the painting can be seen here: www.amyguidry.com/sum-of-its-parts.html.
Three paintings from my In Our Veins series have recently found a new home in Norway! Interconnected, Full Circle, and Ephemeral are all acrylic on canvas, 6″ x 6,” 4″ x 4,” and 4″ x 4,” respectively. I’m happy to have my work go abroad and to such a wonderful, thoughtful new owner as well. It means so much to me to have someone show such appreciation for my work and to know that it speaks to them in such a personal manner. No award could ever compare.
I’m excited about my latest project. I have just posted a new video to my YouTube channel featuring my painting process in a 30 second time-lapse video! The painting featured is “Interconnected” which you just saw me post last week. I had posted a few photos of my process but the video uses 89 photos which I had taken of the painting as I worked- it’s a 6″ x 6″ painting, so the smaller size worked well for this project seeing as I had to frequently stop to photograph it. The video shows the piece from start to finish, taking a 2+ week period and converting it into 30 seconds. If only it were that easy… You can check out the video by clicking the image above or go to YouTube at http://youtu.be/ExH6dRoV3KU.
