Biodiversity

Biodiversity” by Amy Guidry; Acrylic on canvas; 6″ x 8″; Sold; (c) Amy Guidry 2021

Sharing my new painting Biodiversity. This piece features two tarsiers, which are small leaping primates found only in the islands of Southeast Asia. Biodiversity is a fun homage to the diversity of nature, inspired by bold colors and mixed prints seen in fashion. It features a mix of plants not normally found together in nature, and most of their colors have been exaggerated or altered to add to the whimsy of the painting. Biodiversity is an acrylic on canvas, 6″ wide by 8″ high and available through LeMieux Galleries’ 2021 Online Holiday Show: https://lemieuxgalleries.com/show/lemieux-galleries-2021-online-holiday-show

Ouroboros

“Ouroboros” by Amy Guidry; Acrylic on canvas; 6″ x 6″; Sold; (c) Amy Guidry 2021

Excited to share my new painting Ouroboros. Black panthers in Asia and Africa are actually melanistic leopards while those in the Americas are melanistic jaguars. Beauty and protection are among much of the symbolism behind panthers while the snake is seen as a symbol of rebirth. Ouroboros is an acrylic on canvas, 6″ wide by 6″ high, and you can view it (as well as the rest of the series) online here: https://amyguidry.com/ouroboros.html.

Tarsiers sketch by Amy Guidry; 6″ wide by 8″ high; (c) Amy Guidry 2021

Sneak preview of a sketch for an upcoming painting. This piece features tarsiers which are small primates found in Southeast Asia. I did something a little different with this piece and opted to use plants that are not normally found together, just intuitively going on what I felt the piece needed regarding color and texture. This is a cropped view- the total size is 6″ wide by 8″ high.

Inside Out

“Inside Out” by Amy Guidry; Acrylic on canvas; 12″ x 12″; (c) Amy Guidry 2020

Revealing another finished painting Inside Out. Inside out is in reference to our love of nature mimicked through consumer goods which, once they are old or we tire of them, are tossed out into the very thing we love: nature. This painting is currently part of the “All the Things” group exhibition at Roq la Rue in Seattle. The show is up now through March 7th. Inside Out is an acrylic on canvas, 12″ wide by 12″ high. Painting in progress by Amy Guidry; Acrylic on canvas; 5″ x 5″; (c) Amy Guidry 2020

Progress photo of a new painting in the works. Sometimes I take artistic license with my subjects if they don’t quite fit what I had in mind. Such as this spider, which aside from the obvious (abdomen), doesn’t actually exist. So I looked at several spiders and created this one. This piece is an acrylic on canvas, 5″ wide by 5″ high.
