Revealing another finished painting Inside Out. Inside out is in reference to our love of nature mimicked through consumer goods which, once they are old or we tire of them, are tossed out into the very thing we love: nature. A few photos of my current painting in progress.  Focusing on the rainforest for this one, specifically the Amazon and its flora and fauna.  Also wanted to work on a larger piece, so this one is 20″ wide by 20″ high.  It’s heavily detailed courtesy of all the leaves and tree branches.  Not to mention full of white-faced capuchin monkeys!  The sketch on paper maps everything out before I transferred it to canvas.  The painting itself is an acrylic on canvas.  I’m still working on the rainforest background at the moment, and the blue morpho butterflies.  Butterflies may be small, but they are hugely symbolic in my work.

Sometimes I receive installation images from people after they’ve hung my work in their home.  It’s always nice to see my work again and how it looks in its new space, plus if it’s been included in groupings of work by other artists, that’s always nice to see.  So these are a few shots featuring paintings from my In Our Veins series and Beneath the Surface series.

I’ve recently finished two new paintings in my In Our Veins series.  Encroach is an acrylic on canvas, 6″ by 6.”  It serves as a subtle commentary on human intervention in nature while illustrating the connection of the natural world to all life.  Reciprocal is the latest addition to the smaller series of paintings within In Our Veins.  It is also an acrylic on canvas, 4″ by 4.”  Reciprocal conveys the connection to nature by linking flora and fauna and uses the ribbon to continue the recent theme exploring anonymity versus connection.
