Infinite Well II

Very excited for this upcoming exhibition curated by WOW x WOW at Nucleus Portland Gallery in Portland, Oregon. I’ve created a new painting for this show and if you’ve been following along, you’ve seen a few sneak peeks of it in progress. The Infinite Well II exhibition opens this Friday, September 6th. Balance

Happy to reveal my finished painting Balance. This piece was created for Cactus Gallery’s upcoming Magic Oceans, Sacred Rivers exhibition which focuses on ocean life and their welfare. Coral and polar bears come from disparate environments, but both are ecologically connected and affected by our actions. This piece is an acrylic on canvas, 5″ wide by 5″ high. The exhibition opens June 8th, 5pm at Cactus Gallery in Los Angeles.

I’m happy to reveal my painting Woven which was created for WOW x WOW’s MicroVisions 2 exhibition. Every plant, animal, and insect serves a role in the life cycle, together forming the delicate balance of nature. The human third eye in this piece refers to our connection to all of nature. The leaves extending from the eye, weaving around the privet hawk moth’s antennae, connect us to all flora and fauna. I’m happy to reveal my new painting Regrowth, created specifically for Modern Eden Gallery’s Night Garden exhibition. The exhibit explores nature and earth magic, flora and fauna, death and wilderness. The human eyes within the leaves refer to our connection to all of nature. Sharing a couple of progress photos of a new painting for Gristle Art Gallery’s upcoming “Killing Jar” exhibition.  This insect-themed group exhibit opens October 20th at Gristle Art Gallery in New York.  I can’t reveal the finished painting yet, but these are some sneak previews of my piece while it was in progress.  The title is Delicate, which refers to the delicate beauty of the stag beetle.  It is an acrylic on canvas, 5″ wide by 5″ high.  The finished piece will be revealed soon.  In the meantime, you can view more work from this series here: https://amyguidry.com/gallery.html.

If you missed the opening of “The Revival” at Cactus Gallery in Los Angeles, there will be another event tomorrow.  The gallery will be open for the 11th Frogtown Art Walk on Saturday, September 22nd from 4-10pm.  It is a community festival that stretches 2 miles along the LA River.  Numerous venues will host pop-up art exhibits, food selections, stages and performance spaces, all for free.  37 venues (Cactus Gallery, 3001 N. Coolidge Ave. LA CA 90039 is #29 on the map), 50+ artists, 3 stages with music, a “literary lounge”, an interactive light installation stretching ½ mile along the LA River, pedi-cabs, and more.

I’m happy to reveal my new painting for Cactus Gallery’s The Revival exhibition.  It’s titled Renew and is an acrylic on canvas, 6″ wide by 6″ high.  The theme of the show deals with life, death, rebirth, and regrowth through natural imagery which is very much in line with my work.  Renew is in keeping with my ongoing series, In Our Veins, which explores the connections of all life forms and the cycle of life. Each animal, and each plant, serves a role in the life cycle, together forming the delicate balance of nature.
