In addition to featuring several of my paintings, the interview discusses my art, my process, and the link to veganism and animal welfare. The magazine is available now on newsstands and through their app: http://veganlifemag.co.uk/preview/.

Also of note- if you would like to see my work in person, I’ll be showing in the Main Gallery of the Acadiana Center for the Arts in Lafayette, LA as part of a 10-person exhibition called “Apocalypse Now.” The opening is this Saturday, October 10th from 6-9pm. The exhibit will remain up through January 9th.
“Dissociate” by Amy Guidry; Acrylic on canvas; 12″w x 6″h; SOLD; (c) Amy Guidry 2015
I’ve recently finished some new work in my In Our Veins series. Dissociate is an acrylic on canvas, 12″ wide by 6″ high. Lately I’ve been exploring the “opposite” of many paintings in this series. Whereas in previous paintings, I relied on eyes and facial expressions to convey a sense of connection, these recent works show animals without faces or covered faces. Anonymity vs. connection- without seeing their faces, does that make them any less personable? Meaningful? And how does this apply on a global scale? These are some of the questions I’m working on with these and future paintings.

“Reflection” by Amy Guidry; Acrylic on cardstock; 4″ tondo; $100; (c) Amy Guidry 2015
I have a couple of exhibitions to mention: First, “The Coaster Show” at La Luz de Jesus Gallery in Los Angeles is currently open. There will be a Closing Party this Sunday, September 27th from Noon to 6pm. I have one coaster left – Reflection – as seen in the YAY! LA Magazine preview article.
Coming up this October, I will be showing as part of the “Apocalypse Now” exhibit at the Acadiana Center for the Arts in Lafayette, Louisiana. The exhibit starts October 10th, with an opening reception that evening from 6-9pm (in conjunction with Second Saturday Artwalk). The exhibit will remain up through January 6, 2016 so there will be plenty of time to check it out.
