Dr. Lee Gray, Curator of the Paul & Lulu Hilliard University Art Museum recently gave a lecture on my work at the Oliver Hall Auditorium in Lafayette, Louisiana. The video above is of her presentation, “Personal, Provocative, and Political: Magical Realism and the Art of Amy Guidry.”

Here is a sneak preview of what I’ve been working on for the upcoming 2nd Annual Coaster Show at La Luz de Jesus Gallery in Los Angeles, CA. On the left is my sketch on the actual coaster after applying gesso and the sketches on the right are for other coasters. I’ll be posting more photos here soon. The Coaster Show takes place at La Luz de Jesus starting September 5th (with an opening reception from 8-11pm) through September 28th.

I recently received news that my work has been selected for the 2014 Art Melt to be held at Capitol Park Museum (formerly Louisiana State Museum) in Baton Rouge. Surprisingly, I think this may be the 10th time my work has been in the Art Melt (all but the very first). This year’s jurors are Ben Thompson, Curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville; Katie Pfohl, Curator at LSU Museum of Art; and Eric Robert Dallimore, co-owner of the Leon Gallery, Denver, Colorado.
The Preview Party will be held July 18th from 7-10pm. The official opening (free to the public) will be July 19th from 5-9pm.
