I’ve recently begun a new painting in my In Our Veins series. As featured here I start with a rough sketch on canvas to work out the positioning and basic outline of the subject(s) before moving on to the first layer of paint. I’ve just finished two new paintings in my In Our Veins series. The first is titled Connections and is a 6″ x 6″ acrylic on canvas. The second is titled Bound and is 6″ wide by 4″ high, also acrylic on canvas. While both are different in content, the basis behind each painting is very similar. Both illustrate the connection between all species, whether plants or animals, including humans and serve as a reminder of the significance of such a relationship. The title pertains to the cycle of life and how our actions of the both the past and present affect our future environment. Another painting from my In Our Veins series has recently found a new home. My painting Anthropomorphism is an acrylic on canvas, 6″ x 6,” and one of the most recent paintings from the series. It is currently on exhibit in the 1000 Words show in the Main Gallery of the Acadiana Center for the Arts, so if you haven’t had the opportunity to see it in person, there is still time. The exhibit is open now through July 13th.
The 1000 Words exhibition opened at the Acadiana Center for the Arts last Saturday night. The opening was held in conjunction with the Second Saturday Artwalk in Lafayette, Louisiana. If you missed the opening, not to worry because there will actually be other ‘openings’ during the June and July Artwalk. The exhibit is open now through July 13th.

I’ve been diligently working on a new painting for my In Our Veins series. This is the initial sketch on canvas, consisting of basic outlines. I’ve already started applying paint and will be posting it here as soon as it is finished. I’m still trying to settle between two titles. It is 20″ wide by 10″ high.
