Three paintings from my In Our Veins series have recently found a new home in Norway! Interconnected, Full Circle, and Ephemeral are all acrylic on canvas, 6″ x 6,” 4″ x 4,” and 4″ x 4,” respectively. I’m happy to have my work go abroad and to such a wonderful, thoughtful new owner as well. It means so much to me to have someone show such appreciation for my work and to know that it speaks to them in such a personal manner. No award could ever compare.

I’ve recently added two new paintings to my In Our Veins series. The first is The Ties That Bind, an acrylic on canvas, 6″ wide by 12″ high and is available through Wally Workman Gallery in Austin, TX. Next is a new small painting, Full Circle, also acrylic on canvas, and is 4″ x 4″ square. Both paintings deal with the life cycle and how everything eventually becomes part of the earth, continuously nourishing and fostering new life. We often forget that everything has a role in nature, which The Ties That Bind serves as a reminder of this. Every species is connected and to remove one creates a domino effect leading back to us. I recently added two new small paintings to the In Our Veins series. My latest newsletter featured both paintings (which if you would like to receive, sign up information is here: www.amyguidry.com/contact.html) and there is still one available. The titles are Generate and Ephemeral, each are 4″ x 4,” acrylic on canvas. Generate (sold) pertains to the life cycle and how life continues, hence the flowers growing out of the wolf’s back. Ephemeral is still available ($100- contact me if interested) and features a moth with a heart, ribcage, and vertebrae superimposed upon it. The premise of the painting is the importance of life- so fragile, precious, and short, in the scheme of things- and serves as a reminder to live life to the fullest. Another In Our Veins painting has found a new home. My painting Sequence has sold and is already at its new residence. This is an acrylic on canvas, 6″ wide by 12″ high. The In Our Veins series deals with the life cycle and the role of every living organism in it. With Sequence, life and death are represented with new life- plants, animals, insects- leading one to the next, from the skull. The animals loosely follow a natural hierarchy, many of them following each other in the food chain. The roses were part of the original sketch and seemed appropriate given that we use roses to celebrate life as well as to honor those that have passed. I was trying to come up with an apt title for this post… I mentioned my brother’s (Craig) artwork before in one of my older posts. For those of you who don’t know, he has been working on a comic book for a few years now. He drew out a lot of work originally and then returned to it later and improved upon it. All of this is his own original story and line work. I think he’ll be doing the whole book in black and white. Perhaps I will interview him later as this project develops and give you all a more in-depth look into his work. Anyways, I wanted to give you a glimpse of the detailed work that he does and a look into the dark themes that often appear in his paintings and drawings. The main character in this comic is a lizard man of sorts (reminiscent of the character in one of his paintings I wrote about before). These are a few scenes of the lizard man out hunting. There’s a whole respect for animals/nature element to the story which will be flushed out as the book progresses. Craig’s work is very tedious, so it takes him forever to complete one page. However, I’ll be sure to cover this book some more in the future as he adds to it (and sends more photos!)
