Revealing my latest painting Revere. This piece was created for Gristle Art Gallery’s Birds of Paradise exhibition. Revere features a female red-tailed black cockatoo which have yellow spots (males are solid black) so I took the liberty of painting them metallic gold. The angled second photo shows the metallic sheen a bit more. Big thanks to whomever brought this one home! Revere is an acrylic on canvas, 5″ wide by 5″ high.

Krause Gallery in New York is currently having an online charity art exhibition benefiting the elderly. My painting Consciousness is included and 10% of the sale of this piece goes to Meals on Wheels. Consciousness is an acrylic on canvas, 12″ wide by 6″ high. My painting Transcendental has found a new home. This piece was created as part of Modern Eden Gallery’s Familiar: The Spirit Animal in Contemporary Art exhibition. Finishing up the little leaves in this painting. The emperor gum moth is done as well. They are native to Australia and this one is a male (males have more “feathery” antennae). VENERABLE

Finished this small painting for a collector recently. The title is Venerable and it is an acrylic on canvas, 4″ wide by 4″ high. Did you know that sharks are older than trees? Sharks have been in existence for 400 million years, surviving 4 global mass extinctions. The earliest species of what we would classify as a tree existed 350 million years ago. Given the negative association with sharks, I wanted to create a painting that emphasized their importance in the balance of nature. It’s when things are out of balance that we have problems. The recent upsurge in shark attacks is actually linked to climate change. As waters are becoming warmer, they become more hospitable to larger, more diverse shark populations, and allow for sharks to move into areas that were previously “shark-free.” This is just one reason why it is imperative that we make responsible choices and shrink our carbon footprint now rather than later.

Happy to reveal my finished painting Balance. This piece was created for Cactus Gallery’s upcoming Magic Oceans, Sacred Rivers exhibition which focuses on ocean life and their welfare. Coral and polar bears come from disparate environments, but both are ecologically connected and affected by our actions. This piece is an acrylic on canvas, 5″ wide by 5″ high. The exhibition opens June 8th, 5pm at Cactus Gallery in Los Angeles.
