I have just recently finished a new addition to my In Our Veins series. This painting is titled Crutch and is 12″ wide by 6″ high, acrylic on canvas. You may recall seeing my photos of this painting in progress. To say the water was time-consuming is an understatement. This is one of only a handful of paintings in which I’ve painted water. It features one of my “trademarks” from the series- butterflies- which represent life in that they are both beautiful, fragile, and here for a short time. Gearing up for a 2-person exhibit at Barrister’s Gallery in New Orleans. It will open in October 2014, which for me, is right around the corner. Good news is it will be during the Prospect.3 Biennial! Until then I will be painting like a madwoman- a madwoman that paints with small dabs and tiny brushstrokes, that is.

Making some headway on my current painting. This is a new piece to be added to my In Our Veins series. I’ve roughed everything in with the first layer of paint and have finished the sky. The ocean is currently being worked on, adding detail along the way.
